   "Australopithecus Afarensis is a hominid which lived between four and three million years ago. It was a long lived creature which researchers believe may have given rise to different lineages of humans in eastern and southern Africa between two and three million years ago. For a species of this age it is remarkably well known. Over 300 individuals have been discovered, including the famous Lucy."
